PURPOSE:To reduce a falling off of positive polar active materials and prevent a positive plate from being abnormally elongated as well as to improve the service life of a lead storage battery ever so longer, by manufacturing a side conductor capable of showing its elasticity following the elongation of a plate. CONSTITUTION:A core body composed of such a metal as being smaller in electric resistance than that of pure lead is set down to a side conductor pillar part 6 by applying a core body covering layer 8 made up of a lead alloy whose tensile force on and after three days in the aging is above 2.2kg/mm. as well as the percentage of elongation in crosshead speed 10mm./sec is below 28%, to the said core body. In addition, it is provided with a side conductor 5 connected to a positive plate in a way of installing a connecting part made up of pure lead at least at one spot in the said side conductor pillar part 6. Then hyperon is applied to the top of the core body covering layer 8 of the side conductor pillar part 6 and furthermore a polyester tube is covered thereon or the core body covering layer 8 of the side conductor pillar part 6 and both surfaces of a pillar part indirect connecting part 9 and a pair plate connecting part 10 are all covered with polyisobutylene. |
