PURPOSE:To obtain a connector for which holding work and insertion of an optical fiber strand are easily performed, by fitting cylindrical storing metal having a through hole with larger diameter than the strand to the tip part of a small-diameter part into which the strand is inserted, and fixing the strand by deformation due to contraction. CONSTITUTION:The through hole 2 through which an optical fiber can be freely inserted is fitted to a center element 1 of a connector for optical fibers by the small-diameter part 2a on the tip part and a large-diameter part 2b connected to the part 2a. A fiber strand from which its cover is removed is freely inserted into the small-diameter part 2a. A cylindrical storing metal body 7 having the through hole 7a with an inner diamter larger than the outer diameter of the strand is fitted to the tip of the small-diameter part 2a. After inserting the strand into the through hole 7a, the inner diameter of the through hole 7a is reduced by changing the temperature of the cylindrical body to fix the strand. Consequently, the drilling of the small-diameter part 2a is simplified and the strand is easily inserted, so that working of the connector and fitting of optical fibers can be attained easily and efficiently. |
