An electric power tool has two gears (17, 18) which are arranged on a spindle (12) and are rotated simultaneously in opposite directions by the drive motor of the power tool. The two gears (17, 18) are in drive connection with the spindle (12) via free-wheels (21, 22). Depending upon the drive direction of the motor, the one or the other of the two gears (17, 18) drives the spindle (12) in each case at a different speed. One of two ratchets (29, 30) of a percussion mechanism can be attached by means of a free-wheel (21, 32) in such a way that any percussion action occurs only in one drive direction of the motor. <IMAGE>
