Apparatus for cutting to size continuous mats of pressed material in installations for producing chipboards, fibreboards and the like having a feeding conveyor for the continuous mat of pressed material, a sawing device for cutting off cut-to-size sections and a removing conveyor for the cut-to-size sections. The sawing device has a severing saw, which is moved back and forth transversely with respect to the width of the mat of pressed material and which, during the severing cut, passes through the mat of pressed material and works in a gap between the conveyor belts of the feeding conveyor and the removing conveyor. The sawing device is designed as a stationary device with severing saw moved in accordance with the velocity vector diagonal, to be precise at a diagonal angle from the perpendicular to the direction of movement. The gap deflecting nose of the feeding conveyor is arranged at a corresponding diagonal angle, the gap deflecting nose of the removing conveyor is arranged in a complementary manner to this diagonal angle, forming a gap, in the region underneath the velocity vector diagonal. The conveyor belt from the feeding conveyor and removing conveyor is returned again into the feeding conveyor or removing conveyor with the aid of correction noses. It may also run through via the feeding conveyor and removing conveyor. <IMAGE>
