The actuating device serves for the transmission of an axial movement into the inside of a gas turbine engine at a number of points around an outer housing (22) of the engine in a synchronous movement. An outer hydraulic servo drive (50) actuates the device by rotating an outer crankshaft (40), which in turn rotates a single outer yoke (60). The yoke (60) is mechanically connected to a plurality of crankshafts (40), which extend through the outer housing (22) of the engine and transmit a rotary movement into the inside of the engine. The crankshafts (40) are connected inside the engine to an annular slide (20) in order to move the latter axially. In one embodiment the actuating device is used for opening and closing a slide valve (20) between an inner and an outer bypass duct (18, 19) of an aircraft engine operable on a variable cycle. <IMAGE>
