PURPOSE:To decrease a contact area between a pressure ring and a cylinder wall, so as to reduce a friction loss, by thinning a width, in the direction of the axis, of the pressure ring of an internal combustion engine, and to reduce an energy loss created due to inertia, by narrowing a distance between the pressure rings. CONSTITUTION:A martensite series stainless steel is used as a material of pressure rings 3 and 4, and the material is treated such that at least 0.2-1.0wt%C and 11.0-19.0wt% Cr are contained, and hardening tempering hardness, obtained after a heat treatment is HrC35-44. Further, a surface treated layer, such as hard Cr plated layers, is formed on the sliding surface of the pressure rings 3 and 4 which makes slide contact with a cylinder 1 wall. |
