PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION OF LIGHT HYDROCARBON FRACTIONS

Light hydrocarbon fractions are prepared by hydrocracking a heavy hydrocarbon oil of which at least 50% v boils above 350 DEG C and at least 10% V above 450 DEG C at a hydrogen partial pressure below 100 bar. A catalyst is employed which contains Ni and W on a faujasite carrier and which has a specific particle diameter (d) and specific average pore diameter (p) such that the following relation is satisfied: $(PH2\; being\; hydrogen\; partial\; pressure\; in\; bar,\; d\; in\; mm,\; p\; in\; nm).$
