Adjustable insert barrel for centrally fired pellet cartridges for fitting into shot-firing guns, with clamping free of bending stress within the shot barrel and with a freely oscillating barrel muzzle. The adjustable insert barrels known hitherto in the construction of hunting weapons for centrally fired pellet cartridges present many problems in terms of fire power and a constant hit-point position because of the bending stresses occurring during adjustment and clamping. The insert-barrel muzzle cannot oscillate freely and the adaptation work for the various shot-barrel lengths and diameters involves a very high outlay. In the partly conventional clamping by means of rubber rings, the shot barrel is sealed off, so that condensation water and therefore rust can form in the shot barrel. To solve these problems, the insert barrel is designed with an adjusting and clamping device free of bending stress and with a freely oscillating barrel muzzle. The insert barrel can expand virtually freely in the longitudinal direction under heating and is ventilated within the shot barrel. The retention or locking of the adjusting or clamping device guarantees an absolutely constant hit-point position during subsequent removal and refitting. The insert barrel can be produced as standard and economically in terms of mass production for various shot-barrel lengths and diameters and needs only a little adaptation work, so that it can be produced cheaply and easily for shot-firing guns, especially for combined hunting guns, such as rifle/shotgun combinations and three-barrelled guns.
