Process for the treatment of liquid organic bromine compounds

A process is described according to which, with the aid of benzyl alcohol, the escape of aggressive vapours from filter cakes which are obtained by separation of solids from a liquid phase which contains an organic bromine compound or consists thereof is suppressed. The filter cake is covered or impregnated with benzyl alcohol. Following subsequent filtration, the filter cake is free of aggressive vapours.
