A device for shear-viscosity torque transmission comprises an input side, an output side and a working space which is filled with fluid and the filling level of which can be adjusted, and is associated with a coolant circuit of a liquid-cooled internal combustion engine. To allow such a device for shear-viscosity torque transmission to be used as a heater, the output side is locked relative to the input side and surrounded by a housing through which the coolant of the liquid-cooled internal combustion engine flows.
