An up-and-over door operating mechanism is provided for a door assembly having a panel door (1) located, for pivotal displacement between a substantially vertical closed position and a substantially horizontal open position, by a pair of rollers (2) which are provided one at each of two lateral edges (4) of the door adjacent the door edge (5) lowermost in the closed position and which are guided in a respective one of two spaced substantially vertically extending guide members (6), and by a pair of elongated links (3) which are each pivotally attached at one end (3a) to the door at one of the two lateral (4) edges of the door adjacent the door edge (7) uppermost in the closed position and which are each pivotally attachable at the other end (3b) to a respective fixed pivot point (8) above and to the rear of the door in the closed position thereof. The mechanism includes at least one elongated transmission means (9) locatable to extend substantially vertically adjacent one of the guide members (6), at least one drive means (10) (Fig. 13, not shown) for imparting reversible motion to the transmission means (9). At least one slotted member (11) is attachable to the transmission means (9) for substantially vertical movement up and down in response to drive imparted to the transmission means (9) by the drive means (10), which slotted member (11) projects from the transmission means (9) and has an elongated slot (12) therein extending substantially perpendicularly to the transmission means. A cranked arm (27), having spaced parallel oppositely directed first and second shaft parts (28, 29) and an interconnecting part (30) operates with the slotted member (11) to impart a predominantly upward movement to the door via the cranked arm (27) to displace the door into the open position and movement of the slotted member (11) in the reverse direction in response to drive imparted to the transmission means (9) by the drive means (10) returns the door from the open to the closed position. A latch member 35 is provided to lock the door in its closed position. The door operating mechanism can be actuated through a remote control system provided with an I.R. or V.H.F. receiver. <IMAGE> |
