<p>A nebulizer has a nebulizing head (24) and is supplied with compressed air from a pump which is powered by the exertions of an individual, who may be the user. The pump incorporates a cylinder (4) with a reciprocable piston (5) which generates compressed air on one stroke but not on the reverse stroke. An accumulator (19) receives compressed air from the pump and enables the head to produce a continuous spray. The accumulator may include a fine filter (26). The pump may resemble a foot-pump for inflating vehicle tyres. The piston may carry a resilient annular seal which is lightly compressed in the cylinder but is not compressed by engagement with the piston. The seal may be unlubricated. The pump is stabilized by a removable stabilizer with laterally projecting limbs (36).</p> |
