<p>PURPOSE:To obtain a stable calcareous refining agent for molten steel with no hygroscopicity by mixing a calcareous starting material with an aluminous starting material in a powdered state so that CaO, Al2O3 and SiO2 are contained in a specified ratio and sintering the mixture. CONSTITUTION:Limestone as a calcareous starting material is mixed with bauxite as an aluminous starting material in a powdered state so that the mixture has a composition consisting of 60-85wt% CaO, 10-35wt% Al2O3 and <3wt% SiO2. The mixture is finely ground and heated to 1,300-1,450 deg.C in a rotary kiln or the like to form clinker. The clinker does not absorb moisture in the air, causing no disintegration, it is easily preserved, and the absorption of hydrogen in molten steel due to moisture absorption is prevented. Acordingly, when the clinker is used as a refining agent for molten steel, steel products with superior toughness and strength are obtd.</p> |
