PURPOSE:To prevent the excessive displacement of a cleaning blade when excessive force acts thereon, by limiting the turning region of the 2nd holding member in the cleaning stage within an adequate region. CONSTITUTION:When excessive force is acted on a cleaning blade 1 by the increase in the press contact force thereof with a latent image carrying body 2 while there is much residual toner on the body 2 or the residual toner is stuck securely on the circumferential surface of the body 2, the blade 1 displaces largely, and if a pin-like stopper S which is embedded in the immobile member of the device body and limits the clockwise turning of the 2nd holding member 4 is disposed at <=90 deg. angle theta1 assumed by the contact plane T of the body 2 and the blade 1 on the uncleaning side, the spoiling in the normal cleaning function owing to an excessive change in the contact position or attitude of the blade 1 with the body 2 or the failure in maintaining the contact between the blade 1 and the body 2 is prevented. |
