A hazard marker made from a plastics or rubber material comprises two stem portions 10 hingedly connected by 'live' hinges to a base portion 11 about respective axes which are parallel to each other. The upper ends of the stem portions are secured together by a cord or other elastic tie 15, so that if the marker is flattened by a passing vehicle, the tie 15 stretches and after the impact returns the marker to its original form. The stem portions may carry light-reflective strip material and may be shaped as or carry official traffic warning or instruction signs. The base portion 11 may have a central hinge line to enable the marker to be stored flat, or may be made in two portions respectively hinged to the two stem portions. The base portion 11 may be shaped or otherwise adapted to be secured to the reflector pad of a cats-eye road stud, or may be attached to a mat larger than the base portion so as to be free-standing, or may be nailed or secured by adhesive to the road surface. <IMAGE> |
