PURPOSE:To prevent the decrease in the strength of a casting mold at elevated temp. by passing carbon dioxide through a sand mold which is molded of the sand admixture produced by adding refractory particles to a binder material having a specific component then cooling the mold forcibly and removing the mold. CONSTITUTION:Carbon dioxide is passed through a sand mold which is molded of the sand admixture produced by mixing a binder material for a casting mold to be cured by carbon dioxide consisting of an alcohol soluble phenolic resin, hydroxide of polyvalent metals and their oxide, water, hydroxide of alkali metals, and, if necessary, polyhydric alcohol and lower monohydric alcohol and refractory materials, whereafter compressed air is passed therethrough and the mold is cooled forcibly down to <=40 deg.C and is then removed. |
