The upper and lower surfaces of a spring washer have several circularly arranged concentric ridges (2), the peaks (3) of which project above the spring-washer surfaces. Transverse grooves (5) are indented into the upper and lower spring- washer surfaces, which grooves (5) are at a slight distance from one another and which press the peaks of the ridges back at least approximately to the level of the spring- washer surface. To reduce the risk of fracture in the workpieces clamped by means of the spring washer as a result of the transverse-grooved ridges acting on them, the transverse grooves (5) are inclined from the radial direction, (Figs. 1, 2, 5) or are staggered (Figs. 3 and 4) so that the indented portions of adjacent ridges (2) do not lie on the same radius of the washer. An alternative arrangement in which the transverse grooves have a trapezoidal profile with rounded edges is disclosed (Figs. 7 to 9). <IMAGE> |
