PURPOSE:To provide a baked flux which is formulated to yield weld metal having high toughness and a good horizontal fillet weld head, by increasing the ratio of MgO in components and decreasing the content of deoxidizing elements and the content of metallic powder. CONSTITUTION:A baked flux for horizontal fillet submerged arc welding consists of 32-42% >=1 kinds among magnesia clinker, electrorefused magnesia, MgO composite oxide, and MgO in terms of MgO, 5-25% CaO oxide and calcium carbonate in terms of CaO, 3-10% metallic carbonate in terms of Co2, 10-35% SiO2 oxide in terms of SiO2, 3-30% Al2O3 oxide in terms of Al2O3, and 20- 45% SiO2+Al2O3, 3-10% metallic fluoride in terms of F, <=7% content of the metallic powder of a single substance or an alloy of deoxidizing elements of which the value specified by the equation indicating the degree of deoxidation (a is the number of oxygen atoms binding with one atom of each deoxidizing element, D is the content of the deoxidizing elements, A is the atomic weight of D) is in a 0.50-0.97 range, and <6% the balance unavoidable impurities. The cracking of weld metal is prevented by such compsn. |
