PURPOSE:To realize a quantitative inspection while reducing the time required for the inspection by detecting the size and the displacement of a far-sight pattern from the worked end faces employing a light receiving element. CONSTITUTION:It is assumed that when worked end faces are vertical to the optical axis of an optical fiber 1, a far-sight pattern 4 expands as shown by the broken line 4. The far-sight pattern 4A expands as shown by the solid line 4A when the worked end faces are made semispherical. In case a part of the worked end face is lost, the farsight pattern 4 shows a change according to damage. If a light receiving element 7 is provided in an area where the far-sight 4 from the worked end faces 3 as reference is projected, changes in the pattern due to poor shape of the worked end faces 3 can be detected from output signal of the light receiving element 7. |
