BATTERY JAR COVER AND WELDING METHOD THEREFOR

A weldable battery cover and method for welding it onto battery jars. The cover is provided with depending guide means which extend around the periphery of the cover at predetermined locations. The guide means allows flow of the thermoplastic cover material to flow inwardly as well as outwardly away from the heated joint area in order to produce a secure welded joint about the entire periphery of the battery and allows the cover to be welded by automatic processing techniques that do not require the cover's removal from the battery jar during welding.
