PURPOSE:To improve the cooling efficiency of a cooler for a rotary electric machine by bending cooling ribs in the vicinity of mounting legs, of the cooling ribs provided on the surface of a sheath of the machine toward the legs, thereby flowing cooling air toward the legs. CONSTITUTION:Cooling ribs which extend axially are formed on the surface of a sheath of a stator frame 1 which covers a stator and supports the stator, and cooling air from a cooling fan 3 which is provided on a rotational shaft is flowed to the ribs 2 to cool a rotary electric machine. The ribs 2 in the vicinity of mounting legs 4 among the ribs 2 are not parallel to the shaft but bent toward the legs 4. In this manner, the cooling air is flowed to the legs 4 and the mounting bottom to increase the cooling area, and the cooling air flowed to the legs crosses to become turbulent flow, thereby improving the cooling efficiency. |
