PURPOSE:To enable the display in the daytime and in the nighttime easy to see and to decrease electric current consumption, by forming the mixed layers of electroluminescence parts and transparent parts on the inside surface of a front cover. CONSTITUTION:An electroluminescence layer 3 is formed on the rear of the front cover 2 of a timepiece 1, and a dial 4 is placed to face the same apart at a prescribed spacing therefrom. A movement 5 is fixed on the rear of the dial 4, and the hands 7 and 8 are fixed to a hand shaft 6 and are located in the spacing between the layer 3 and the dial 4. The layer 3 is formed by forming grating-like electroluminescence parts 10 and grating-like transparent electrodes 11 successively on the grating-like mirror electrodes 9 formed on the inside surface of the cover 2 and covering the same with a transparent moisture-proof sheet. The hands 7 and 8 and the dial 4 are irradiated by the incoming external light from the transparent parts 12, 12B in the daytime, and the luminescence parts 10, 10B emit light upon impression of the voltage between the electrodes 9 and 11 in the nighttime, whereby the hands 7 and 8 and the dial 4 are irradiated. |
