The arrangement is used with a telephone apparatus 1 that comprises incoming and outgoing speech channels 2, 5, a fork connection 8 arranged between the said speech channels and a subscriber or connection lead 9. The apparatus is connected via the said lead to an exchange or telephone system 10 or the like. The fork connection has also a balance 8a. In order to improve the audibility of the said telephone apparatus in certain cases a circuit is connected, supplementing the impedance ZL of the lead from the apparatus, and controlling the side tone suppression in the apparatus. The circuit is arranged in a connecting plug by means of which the linking of the lead is also carried out between the fork connection 8 and the unit 10.
