PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To support a solution for a problem requiring new idea by using a computer. SOLUTION: When a user access the server 1 by using an information terminal 3, the server 1 starts a problem solving supporting program 10. First, this program displays a plurality of questions on a screen in an order decided in advance in correspondence with a problem solving supporting method selected by the user. Based on a plurality of pieces of answer information inputted by the user, an example database is accessed to retrieve and display related examples. When a proper example is not retrieved, information corresponding to the answer information is retrieved from an information database 50 prepared in the auxiliary storage device 2 of the server 1 and an information database 6 which can be accessed through a retrieval engine 5 within the Internet 4 and it is displayed on a screen as reference information. When the user finds a solution for a problem and inputs it to the screen, the solution is registered in the database 40.
