PURPOSE:To make it possible to carry out high speed recording in high image quality, in a dot matrix printer, by a method wherein M rows of recording element groups of which N numbers of K/N come to simple fractions are arranged at K ressolving degree intervals on a same scanning line and M numbers of scannings are carried out by said recording element groups. CONSTITUTION:A multi-nozzle recording head consists of four rows of nozzle heads 5Y-5B of yellow Y, magenta M, cyan C and black B while each nozzle head has four numbers (N=4) of nozzles arranged at K ressolving degree intervals in a main scanning direction. In this mechanism, the recordings of each colors are respectively carried out along lines SL7, SL5...SL1 by one reciprocal scanning and, when recording paper 1 is subsequently sent to an auxiliary scanning direction only over one dot interval, lines SL8, SL6...SL2 are recorded. In this case, for example, when each heads 5Y-5B is scanned every four dot intervals coming to simple fractions, Y-B are successively recorded along the line SL7 by forward scannings of each heads while Y-B are recorded along the line SL8 by backward scanning. By this method, high density recording free from color tone difference and having high image quality can be obtained. |
