PURPOSE:To obtain the titled substance in high yield, by carrying out catalytic hydration of a cycloalkene using a highly active crystalline aluminosilicate having a molar ratio of silica to alumina more than a specific valve in the presence or absence of an organic solvent. CONSTITUTION:A cycloalkene (e.g., cyclohexene) is catalytically hydrated using a crystalline aluminosilicate having >=20 molar ratio of silica to alumina, to give a cycloalkanol. When the reaction is carried out in the presence of an organic solvent such as a halogenated hydrocarbon, alcohol, ether, ketone, etc., the yield of the desired substance is increased. The amount of water is 1-100mol based on 1mol raw material, the weight ratio of the catalyst to the raw material is 0.01-100, and the reaction temperature is preferably 100-200 deg.C. EFFECT:The catalyst is insoluble in water, easily separable, slightly deteriorated, and free from a problem of the corrosion of a device. |
