PURPOSE:To carry out the separation of microorganisms, easily and rapidly, by attaching magnetized linearly-connected ultra-fine magnetic particles to microorganisms containing ultrafine magnetic particle, stirring the combination by rotary magnetic field to effect the desired reaction, and separating the microorganism from the reaction product by the aid of the magnetic field. CONSTITUTION:A number of coils 2 are disposed around the reactor 1. Microorganisms (e.g. bacterium, virus, cell, etc.) containing ultra-fine magnetic particle is charged together with linearly-connected ultrafine magnetic particles into the reactor 1, and the end part of the linearly-connected ultrafine particles is attached to the microorganism. A rotary magnetic field is generated in the reactor by the coils 2, by which the microorganisms attached with the linearly-connected ultrafine magnetic particles is stirred to cause the desired reaction. After the completion of the reaction, the microorganisms are restrained in a DC or AC magnetic field applied by the coils 2, and the non-magnetic reaction products are allowed to be released from the magnetic field to effect the separation of the reaction product from the microorganisms attached to the end of the linearly- connected ultrafine magnetic particles. |
