PURPOSE:To prepare a high strength leaf spring, by subjecting a spring steel material with a specific composition to low temp. tempering treatment. CONSTITUTION:A spring steel material containing 0.3-0.45% C, 0.1-2% Si, 0.3-1% Mn and less than 1% Cr is subjected to low temp. tempering treatment at 80-200 deg.C. As the result, a high strength leaf spring enabled in annealing due to boiled water and having hardness of HRC50 or more can be easily prepared without necessitating a specific annealing furnace. |
