PURPOSE:To improve the flow characteristic of a powdery stock material for powder metallurgy, by a method wherein a mixed powder consisting of a metal powder and a powdery lubricant is heated to a temp. within a range from the m.p. of the powdery lubricant or more to a heat decomposition temp. thereof or less under stirring and the resulting heated mixture is cooled to said m.p. or less. CONSTITUTION:A powdery lubricant such as a metal soap powder such as a zinc stearate powder or wax is added to a metal powder in an amount of about 0.3- 1.5% based on said metal powder and the obtained mixed powder is heated to a temp. within a range of the m.p. of the powdery lubricant or more to the heat decomposition temp. thereof or less under stirring and cooled to said m.p. or less to obtain a powdery stock material for metal metallurgy having improved flow characteristic without lowering the compression ratio or the specific density of the powder. |
