PURPOSE:To provide a regenerating agent for regenerating a deteriorated carbonate-containing nitridation and carburization salt bath in good efficiency, which contains an addition compound of (iso)cyanuric acid or a mixture of both of them and melamine or ammeline and ammelide as main component. CONSTITUTION:A regenerating agent contains an addition compound of cyanuric acid, isocyanuric acid or a mixture thereof and melamine or ammeline and ammelide as a main component. Said addition compound is a compound or a mixture formed by adding each components in an equimolar ratio and, for example, formed by reacting cyanuric acid and melamine in an aqueous solution as a hardly soluble precipitate which can be in turn separated easily. This inventive regenerating agent is added to a deteriorated nitridation and carburization salt bath at about 450-550 deg.C being the m.p. thereof and said salt bath can be regenerated in high efficiency only by stirring in such a state that the loss of the regenerating agent due to decomposition or sublimation is suppressed to an extremely low level. |
