PURPOSE:To prolong the life of a roll electrostatic charge device greatly by providing a cleaning element closely to the surface of a charged body of a conductive elastic body. CONSTITUTION:The roll electrostatic charge device consists of the roll electrostatic charger 9; it has the conductive elastic body 10 made of nitrobutadiene rubber with an about 5mm. uniform thickness and 10<8>OMEGA.cm specific resistance on the surface of a metallic base and its whole body is pressed against a photoreceptor 2 by a spring 11. Then, a power source for pressure application, e.g. a 200V voltage is connected while the roll electrostatic charger 9 is held plus and a photoreceptor holding device 1 is held minus. Further, a blade 13 which is close to or slightly contacts part of the surface of the elastic body 10 and has a knife edge at a forward part is fitted at a specified angle to have resistance in the rotating direction of the elastic body 10. Furthermore, a receiving dish 14 is provided to form a cleaning part 18. |
