PURPOSE:To vary the wavelengths of Stokes' light and anti-Stokes' light guided in an optical fiber while maintaining the coherency of incident light, by varying the radius of curvature of the fiber. CONSTITUTION:A single-mode optical fiber 8 is wound around a bending bobbin 9 to bend the fiber in a plane (y). Laser light from a light source 1 is made incident to one terminal of the optical fiber 8 through an objective 3 and projected light from the fiber is made incident to a demultiplexer 5 through an objective 4 to be demultiplexed into projected light 6 having the same wavelength that the incident light has and converted light 7 having different wavelength from that of the incident light. When quartz is used as an optical fiber material, shifts in wavelength lambdaS=1.119mum and lambdaA=1.014mum occurs for a radius R of 0.5mm. while the wavelength lambdaP of the incident light is 1.064mum and the external diameter of the fiber is 125mum; and this value is variable between 0.96 and 1.19mum by varying the R. |
