PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water coating composition which can provide a transparent coating film having excellent weather resistance, excellent undercoat protection and a low haze value. SOLUTION: The water coating composition comprises a benzotriazole ultraviolet absorber (A) and a coating film-forming resin (B), wherein (A) has a particle size of 3μm or less to disperse and a content of 2 parts by mass or more relative to 100 parts by mass of (B); and the composition provides a coating film having a haze value of 6 or less in the coating film thickness of 15μm.
