The laser electron beam tube contains an evacuated bulb (1) in which an electron gun (2), a control system (3) for the electron bundle (4) and a screen (5) are accommodated. The screen (5) is a plane-parallel semiconductor panel (6) with smooth surfaces onto which reflection coatings (7, 8) are deposited. The coating (8) on the electron gun (2) side has a thin metal layer (10) and a layer (11) which consists of optically transparent solid dielectric whose thickness is determined from the following relationship: <IMAGE> Where: h - thickness of the layer (11) consisting of optically transparent solid dielectric, lambda - radiation wavelength of the laser electron beam tube, nd - refractive index of the dielectric, nm and km - real and imaginary part of the refractive index of the metal, p - positive integer number or zero. The method for thermal-vacuum treatment of the tube is for the heating of the evacuated tube to be carried out at a temperature in the range from 155 DEG to 255 DEG C. <IMAGE>
