PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of any skid mark and to make the temp. of a slab uniform by rotating the slab, which is conveyed in a horizontal state, to a vertical state, and subjecting the same to induction heating then returning the same to the horizontal state and subjecting both side parts of the slab to auxiliary heating. CONSTITUTION:A continuously cast hot ingot 9 is rotated 90 deg. by an inverter 6 provided behind a cutter 5 to a vertical state from a horizontal state. The ingot 9 is held by supporting rolls 12 for preventing falling and is conveyed with conveying rolls 1. The ingot 9 is heated to the temp. suited for hot rolling with an induction heater 7. The ingot 9 is thereafter rotated again 90 deg. with an inverter 6' and is retured to the horizontal state. Both side parts are subjected to auxiliary heating with an edge heater 8, etc. so that the temp. over the entire part of the ingot 9 is made uniform. The generation of skid mark on the rear of the slab is obviated and the accuracy of rolling is improved by the above-mentioned heating. |
