The invention relates to a process-control method for computer-controlled machine tools in which the deviation of process-determined static and dynamic parameters can be detected with electric and electronic transducers and can be influenced in a targeted manner. The aim is to ensure automatic, multiple-shift operation requiring little attendance and having high availability with minimum use of labour. According to the method this is achieved by virtue of the fact that both the technical and the technological status parameters of a machining process are detected simultaneously and are compared with reference to technical and technological command variables which are preset for each operation of the machining process, are adapted in a variable manner to the status parameters of the machining process in accordance with an adaptive system and can be overridden by disturbance variables dependent upon and/or independent of the process, and that, if there is a divergence, this is readjusted with the use of machine sub-assemblies included in the machining process while suspending the supply of further power and/or materials or, if inadmissibly large control deviations are exceeded, these bring about emergency cut-out of the actuators.
