PURPOSE:To contrive the prevention of an exhaust valve from the seizure of the titled device by a method wherein a minute clearance between an exhaust valve and a valve seat is provided during the certain period at the intial phase of a compression stroke, in an engine having the exhaust valve. CONSTITUTION:An exhaust valve 1 is kept at the condition having a minute lift stroke (h') less than about one tenth (1/10) of a normal maximum valve lift stroke H, during the period B without closing at a normal exhaust valve closing point A. Accordingly, the combustion residue which is caught between said exhaust valve 1 and said valve seat 2 is blown away by the compressed air, also said exhaust valve 1 can be cooled by said compressed air. Further, the controlling of said exhaust valve 1 is performed by providing a protruded part (h) corresponding quantity to said lift (h') of said valve stroke on a D part of a cam 3. |
