In a self-blocking belt-reeling mechanism for strap-in safety belts, especially motor-vehicle safety belts, having a shaft which is mounted in a housing and is under spring tension and onto which the belt can be reeled, and a slow-acting blocking member which is mounted eccentrically on one shaft end and, in response to a predetermined rotational acceleration of the shaft in the unreeling direction of the belt, experiences a movement directed outwards and which butts against stops fixed to the housing and in the form of a toothed ring, the blocking member having a curved recess with at least one further stop, into which engages an extension which is located on the shaft end and which, in the event of a relative movement between the shaft and blocking member, serves as the stop for the blocking member, there are problems involved in providing an advantageous load pattern on the shaft and in reducing the relatively large angle which has to be covered until the blocking member engages into the toothed ring, in order even further to shorten the time for the blocking facility to be activated. To achieve the object arising from this, it is proposed that the eccentric point (28) for the eccentric mounting (26, 27) of the blocking member (13) be arranged at least on the circumferential line (20) of the shaft (10), preferably outside this, and that the extension (11) located on the shaft end as well as the blocking member (13) mounted on said extension, together with its curved recess (21, 22), have guide faces (19, 26, 38) which form segments of circular lines described about the eccentric point (28), so that the blocking member (13) is guided only on the circular paths thus formed. Where a plastic shaft with a steel core (32) is concerned, the latter can have, in the bearing region of the blocking member (13), a perforation (34), into which engages at least one cam (35) of the blocking member, so that the latter is secured against movements in the direction of the shaft axis (17). <IMAGE>
