The invention relates to cylinders in a rotary printing machine. Setting out from the object of minimising vibrations which occur in rotary printing machines due to uneven contact of the application rollers in the run-on region and uneven lifting in the run-off region of the cylinder gaps and due to uneven increasing and decreasing of the pressing force between the cylinders, the angles between any tangents on the run-on curve and run-off curve and the associated extended radii at the points of contact of the tangents are of equal size. <IMAGE>
