1. Method of testing a metal test piece (8) on the basis of eddy currents produced in the test piece (8) by means of a testing coil (10), in which a measured quantity dependent on the impedance of the testing coil (10) is determined, which measured quantity serves as a measure for material characteristics of the test piece (8), characterized in that, while a first geometric relationship obtains between the testing coil (10) and the test piece (8), a measurement parameter is continuously varied within a predetermined range and at the same time the above-mentioned measured quantity is received and stored as a function of the measurement parameter, that while a second geometric relatioship obtains between the testing coil (10) and the test piece (8), the same measurement parameter is continuously varied within the same ranged and the measured quantity is one again received as a function of the measurment parameter, that furthermore the previously stored function is compared with the last-mentioned function and that, when the two functions are identical, the measured quantities obtained at the moment of identify and/or the measurement parameter which exists at the same time is or are determined. |
