PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production method by which fine apatite particles which have been highly made acicular, and are suitable for use to the material for the living body, the material for packing into a column or the like, and the material for reinforcing plastics and rubber as well can be obtained at a high yield. SOLUTION: In the production method for the acicular apatite particles, the raw material consisting of (A) a calcium compound, a phosphorus compound and/or a calcium phosphate compound, (B) a compound of metal other than calcium, and (C) a fluorine compound is mixed with a solvent (D) consisting of at least one kind selected from water and a hydrophilic organic solvent, and this mixture is subjected to hydrothermal synthesis.
