摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a differential gear and a power transmission device which rapidly responds to engagement and disengagement between a vehicle power transmission device and vehicle, and reduces cost. SOLUTION: This differential gear 14 comprises a first, second, third structures, a differential gear set, and a bias mechanism. The first structure rotates around a differential shaft depending on a rotational input. The second structure is held to rotate around a differential axis. The third structure is held to rotate around the differential axis and is placed between the first and second structures. The third structure operates in an engaged state for transmitting a torque from the first structure and the second structure and in a disengaged state for inhibiting a transmission of the torque from the first structure to the second structure. The differential gear is connected to the second structure and is held to be rotational in the second structure. The bias mechanism gives a bias to the third structure in the disengaged state. The third structure is positioned in the engaged state when an amount of torsion of the rotation input exceeds that of a rotation force exerted through the differential gear set by a given amount.
