<p>The rotatable platform is for a cripple without the use of his or her lower limbs. It comprises a plate (2) centred on a base (1) with a handrail (9) running round it but leaving one side open. The open side may be aligned with the front wheels of a wheelchair, so that the cripple can lift himself onto the plate using the handrail. After the wheelchair has been moved away, he can rotate the plate in order to sit or lie down on a chair, bed etc. The hollow cylindrical base forms the race for the plate rollers at the bottom, while its edge centres the plate.</p> |
