PURPOSE:To execute stable rolling which generates no slip, by controlling a roll speed so that a forward rate or a backward rate calculated from a measured value of a speed of delivery and entry of a rolling material and a speed of rolling upper and lower rolls coincides with a target value. CONSTITUTION:In a rolling mill having upper and lower rolls 2a, 2b, delivery and entry speeds v2, v1 of a rolling material 1 are detected by delivery and entry measuring rolls 6, 8 and delivery and entry speed detectors 7, 9, respectively. On the other hand, speeds va, vb of the upper and lower rolls 2a, 2b are detected by speed detectors 5a, 5b installed to motors 4a, 4b for driving the upper and lower rolls 2a, 2b through speed reducers 3a, 3b. Subsequently, a forward rate or a backward rate of the upper and lower rolls 2a, 2b is calculated by an operating device from detecting values of said v1, v2, va and vb, and the speeds of the upper and lower rolls 2a, 2b are controlled through the motors 4a, 4b so that said values become the respective target values. |
