PURPOSE:To provide an on-demand type print head for ink jet printer capable of generating ink particles efficiently by such an arrangement wherein at the front opening of an ink spouting unit, a recessed part which is larger than the front opening is formed and the recessed part effectively prevents air from entering orifices, even if the ink spouting unit is brought to contact with a sheet of printing paper. CONSTITUTION:A recessed part 5a, which is larger than a total of front openings of slit holes 13a-13d, is formed in a member element 5 adhered to a member element 4. By the drive of a piezo element, the capacity of a pressure chamber is reduced and ink particles are conveyed to slit holes 13a-13d from orifices 9-12 and they are spouted to the surface of paper. When a strip of recording paper wrapped around a platen becomes loose, the paper is not brought to contact with slit holes 13a-13d, even if it is brought to contact with the front surface of the member element 5. Since ink inside the slit holes 13a-13d is not absorbed by the paper, air is prevented from entering orifices 9-12 when it is brought to contact with the paper. |
