PURPOSE:To work a hole of a desired depth easily without sparking and scattering of dust, by generating an arc between a metal to be worked and a hollow carbon electrode rod and sucking the molten metal through the electrode bar as a suction passage. CONSTITUTION:When an electric power source is turned on and a holder 2 is moved downward, an electrode rod 3 ontacts with a metal 1 to be worked and generates an arc. When the arc is generated, a suction device 9 is operated to suck the metal 1' melted by the arc heat through the hollow part of the rod 3. The holder 2 is thereafter moved downward to the prescribed depth of hole, and the power source is stopped. The hole of a desired depth is thus worked easily without spoiling the working environment. |
