PURPOSE:To provide a typewriter which is capable of printing symbols such as comma for each line while eliminating automatic return shift when the final character of a line is printed, by performing only shaft feeding without space feeding each time printing is performed whe printing is made in the automatic shift mode. CONSTITUTION:A mode selection switch 23 for alternatively selecting the automatic return shift and the automatic shift is communicated to a CPU3 so that only the shift feeding is allowed without space feeding each time printing is performed when printing is made in the automatic shift mode. The printing of a table or the like with period, comma, number or the like at the same position of lines can be performed simply by the normal printing operation only with the switch 23 set to the automatic shift mode. This allows the printing without setting it to the automatic return shift even at the end of the line thereby facilitating the working of tabulation. |
