Conveyor plant feeding and locating - uses continuously moving endless belt with retractable stops in storage waiting and working bays.

The installation uses an endless continuously moving conveyor belt (20) and retractable stops (1-10) to feed and locate cans at successive posts e.g. filling, closing and labelling posts. The stops are situated at regular intervals in a storage bay (Zs) and a working bay (Zt), a waiting bay (Za) precedes the working bay, and jacks are used to move the stops into and out of the path of the cans. The interval equals the post interval or a sub-multiple thereof in the working bay. Stops (8,9) equal to the number of posts are provided at a lesser spacing in the waiting bay and the first waiting bay stop (8) moves at the same time as the working bay stops (1-7). The movement of the remaining waiting bay stops (9) is retarded to set the can spacing and a storage bay gate stop (10) retracts as the first waiting bay stop emerges.
