A carburetion system for metering fuel to an internal combustion engine. Liquid fuel (26) is metered in a branched single metering system. Fuel is flowed through a metering orifice (36) in response to a pressure reduction that results from summing a venturi pressure reduction and an auxiliary pressure reduction. Fuel (26) is delivered by one branch (38) of the metering system to the air inlet (12) downstream from the throttle (22) at small engine loads. Fuel is delivered to the inlet (12) by the other branch (22) upstream from the throttle (22) at large engine loads. The fuel flow divides between the branches (38, 32) automatically, in response to pressure differences within the metering system. Fuel that is delivered downstream from the throttle (22) can be heated by heater (40) or flowed through a nozzle (42) for improved vaporization. A valved air bleed can be used to precisely control the fuel mixture. |
