The invention relates to a device composed of a steerable positioning rod on the trailer pantograph element (draw bar) and a withdrawable guide rail on the towing vehicle. The hitching aid takes places by virtue of the fact that the pantograph head can be exactly coupled via the swivelled-out positioning rod and the vertical adjustment of the pantograph element takes place via the positioning rod which directs the guide rail. In the darkness, the reflector which is illuminated by the rear lights (reversing lights) helps the illustrated offset position of the pantograph element to be found. The positioning rod is mounted under the draw bar. The guide rail is given sufficient space parallel to the longitudinal tie-bar. <IMAGE>
